Center for Literary Arts presents

‘Carvell Wallace’

The Vaster Wilds is a taut and electrifying novel about a servant girl who escapes from a colonial settlement, carrying nothing with her but her wits, a few possessions, and the spark of god that burns hot within her. What she finds in this terra incognita is beyond the limits of her imagination and will bend her belief in everything that her own civilization has taught her.

At once a thrilling adventure story and a penetrating fable about trying to find a new way of living in a world succumbing to the churn of colonialism.

Admission is free, registration is required.

Hammer Presents

‘Perspectives Hammer 2 Gallery’

Join us for “Perspectives” at the Hammer2 Gallery. Located on the 2nd floor of the Hammer Theatre, the Hammer2 Gallery features a rotating display of artwork by San José State University alumni. The gallery will be a site to exhibit artists’ work, support artists financially through art sales, as well as foster young artists’ work. Moreover, the gallery will provide a unique opportunity to marry the visual and performing arts and to provide exposure to these artists to an audience that may not normally frequent an art gallery.

Admission is free, registration is requested.

Kepler’s Literary Foundation presents

‘Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’

Is true happiness ever attainable or is it just a fleeting state? And how honest must we be with ourselves in order to love and to be loved? A trenchant reflection on the choices we make and those made for us, on daughters and mothers, on our interconnected world, Dream Count pulses with emotional urgency and poignant, unflinching observations of the human heart, in language that soars with beauty and power. It confirms Adichie’s status as one of the most exciting and dynamic writers in the literary landscape.
